Fees, Procedures and Policies

Individuals:

‍ ‍

Fees:

‍ ‍

·       Pre-Assessment / Clinical Narrative Assessment:
This one off assessment is a detailed and comprehensive proprietary clinical information questionnaire where you can use your own words and story. This information is then reviewed by our doctor and clinical team for an hour prior to booking appointments. This allows the interviews to be as efficient and detailed as possible, immensely improving the initial assessment outcomes, and recommend alternative agencies if required rather than proceeding with the initial assessment package.

‍ ‍

$300 (50% refunded if other services more appropriate than PSYXIA. Ineligible for Medicare benefits)

‍ ‍

·       Initial In-person Appointment with support person (1.25 hours) (MBS Codes 347,296):
$1,280 – $[290+205] (rebate) = $785
(with extended Medicare safety net, rebate increases to $1,000)

‍ ‍

·       Subsequent In-Person Appointments (MBS Code 304):

‍ ‍

o   50 minutes: $1,240 - $174.47 (rebate) = $1,065.53

‍ ‍

o   30 minutes: $820 - $126.40 (rebate) = $693.60
(with extended Medicare safety net, rebate increases to $446)

‍ ‍

·       Subsequent Virtual Appointments (MBS Code 91829):

‍ ‍

o   50 minutes: $920 - $174.47 (rebate) = $745.53

‍ ‍

o   30 minutes: $680 - $126.40 (rebate) = $553.60
(with extended Medicare safety net, rebate increases to $446)

‍ ‍

Note: Appointment fees (but not the Pre-Assessment / Clinical Narrative Assessment fee) may be eligible for partial Medicare rebates if the patient is eligible for Medicare rebates (i.e. has a Medicare card and an appropriate current referral and meets any other Medicare requirements).

‍ ‍

Medicare safety nets support people who have high out-of-pocket medical costs for services provided out-of-hospital. The safety nets do not apply to services that are not listed on the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) or to MBS services that are delivered in hospital. Once a patient’s out-of-pocket medical costs reach a certain amount (e.g. $2500 p.a.), Medicare gives you a higher amount back (higher rebates) for the rest of the year.

‍ ‍

·       Initial Assessment Package (Appointment Package):

‍ ‍

The initial assessment involves an Appointment Package which contains a minimum of:

‍ ‍

o   One initial in-person appointment (1.25 hours).

‍ ‍

o   Two subsequent 30-minute appointments, which can be in-person or virtual.

‍ ‍

o   Total cost is $2,416 - $747 (rebate) = $1,669
(with extended Medicare safety net, rebate increases to $1,892)

‍ ‍

The whole Appointment Package must be paid for in full at the time of booking. Rebates are processed after each appointment has been completed.

‍ ‍
‍ ‍

‍ ‍

Subsequent Appointments:

‍ ‍

·       Subsequent appointments must be booked in Appointment Packages of three, five, or ten, with full payment required at the time of booking, unless otherwise negotiated with the treating clinician.

‍ ‍

·       An in-person review is required at least every six months.

‍ ‍

Allied Health appointments:

‍ ‍

Where we engage in meetings with allied health providers to patients (such as psychologists or occupational therapists) as part of the course of treatment for a patient, Psyxia has a practice of bulk billing the cost of those appointments (so that the fee is equivalent to the Medicare rebate).  However, that can only occur if the patient provides all relevant consent forms to enable that to occur.  If the patient does not provide relevant consent forms, then those appointments will be charged at the rates set out above.

‍ ‍

Financial Hardship:

‍ ‍

If you are experiencing financial hardship and are having trouble paying the cost of our services, then you can contact us for a confidential discussion about .  Please contact us at hello@psyxia.com if needed, in relation to that.

‍ ‍

Please be aware that Psyxia has limited capacity and will rarely offer discounted rates. Because our doctors have sub-specialties related to disability and mental health, we have many disabled patients – as a result, disability alone will not generally be a basis for Psyxia to offer discounted rates. We may elect to support other health practitioners by providing a limited number of discounted services to them. Psyxia is more likely to provide discounted rates for some services to existing patients who experience financial hardship than it is to provide discounts to new patients.

‍ ‍

There may be other (lower cost) clinics who can provide you with similar services.  In some cases, mental health services may be available on a ‘bulk billed’ basis (where the fee is equivalent to the Medicare rebate) or for free through the public health system.

‍ ‍

Other information for patients:

‍ ‍

You have a right to ask questions about the proposed treatment and to seek clarification about it, and a right to attempt to negotiate fees for your treatment.  You also have a right to seek a second opinion about appropriate treatment.

‍ ‍

If you do not receive recommended treatment, then that may have a serious adverse effect on your health.

‍ ‍

Exclusion Criteria:

‍ ‍

·       We primarily serve clients between the ages of 15 and 55.

‍ ‍

·       Unfortunately, we cannot provide services for:

‍ ‍

o   Autism assessment

‍ ‍

o   Eating disorders

‍ ‍

o   Dementia-associated disorders

‍ ‍

o   Adult ADHD

‍ ‍

o   Forensic issues or

‍ ‍

o   Patients who are subject to a Mental Health Order or a Forensic Mental Health Order or another order under the Mental Health Act, who lack decision-making capacity or whose mental illness or mental disorder places them or the community at significant risk.

‍ ‍

·       If you require services for any of these concerns, please inform a team member and we can refer you to qualified providers.

‍ ‍

·       We do not undertake DVA (Department of Veterans’ Affairs), WorkCover or icare (Insurance and Care NSW) work. We require that all appointments and services be fully prepaid before they are provided.

‍ ‍

·       We cannot generate medico-legal reports unless discussed and mutually agreed upon with sufficient time in advance to allow us to prepare a report.

‍ ‍

·       We are only willing to see patients who are voluntarily attending treatment and who are willing to fully participate in treatment.  If patients are attending mainly or only because of social or personal pressure which is being applied to them by other people, then we don’t consider that to be voluntary, willing attendance.

·       Booking and adhering to the treatment plan is the client's responsibility.
